Content: to be able to explain classification system in biology.
Language: to be able to use specific vocabulary to explain taxonomy and classification in biology.
Exercise 1. Step one (individual work). Look at each fingerprint below. Criminologists use a system for classifying fingerprints to make it easier to compare. What categories would you divide them in to? What subcategories?
Step two (pair work). Discuss your answers with the partner.
Classification systems are used to organise information. In biology they are used to distinguish specific types of organisms.How scientists describe fingerprints:Loops: start and end on the same side, which is the same side as the opening of the loop.Arches: go from one side to the other.Whorls: roughly circular, ridge lines go all the way around.
Exercise 2. Step one (individual work). Answer true or false to the following statements. Use the picture to determine the answers.
